POLICY CHANGE FOR MAIL (GENERAL DELIVERY) AT HELPING HANDS OF SPRINGFIELD

Date: May 29, 2020 Date new policy will take effect: July 6, 2020

Effective July 1, 2020, Helping Hands will no longer serve as a “general delivery” address. Current clients of the Helping Hands emergency shelter, permanent supported housing, representative payee, outreach, and day programs are not affected. We will continue to accept and distribute mail for people who are using our outreach/shelter/housing services. Starting July 1, anyone who is not a client of a Helping Hands program will no longer be able to use the address 1023 E. Washington Street as a general delivery address, and no longer will be able to pick up mail at 1023 E. Washington Street. All mail delivered for people who are not clients will be returned to the post office immediately and will not be distributed. To prepare for this change, all persons affected should contact any individual, company, or agency to change their mailing address. The U.S. Post Office will not forward mail addressed to 1023 E. Washington. You should change your address now to ensure there is no lapse in mail delivery to you.

If you have questions about your address or mail services, we recommend you visit www.usps.gov. You can also call the U.S. Postal Service at 800-275-8777.
